Other reasons to use Minetest are that you can learn how to make mods much more easily with all of their tutorials and documentation, to practice and then move to modding for Minecraft (or stay here). Minetest's default game comes with a map mod, just press F9 to activate it and boom, it's a great experience to go spelunking down such depths, and also very exciting and scary as Minetest is much darker and more realistic than Minecraft.

I recommend farming mod, more ores, food bar, running, better crafting mod and that about does it. But truth must be told, Minecraft's vertical limit in building sometimes makes me not have as much fun, while Minetest can generate floating islands up to 1400 blocks up and HUGE caves that are hundres of blocks high, and thousands of blocks wide down to 31000 blocks deep!! Just get the default game, get yourself some mods to make yourself more comfortable. If you're just looking for playing something like minecraft, listen: Minetest's world generation is so much better than Minecraft's! And this comes from someone who loves minecraft and prefers it over Minetest.
